Sensory-Motor Play

Objective

In Sensory-Motor Play, children practice using their senses, spatial orientation, motor skills, and cooperation.

Instructions

  1. Pairs of children work together.
  2. One child is blindfolded; the other leads the “blind” child to a specific spot where they should feel something, e.g., a tree, a large root, a big rock, or similar.
  3. They then return to the starting point, where the “blind” child removes the blindfold and tries to find the object they felt.
  4. Swap roles.

Tips

  • The game can be done both indoors and outdoors, but it should not be played at high speed or in areas with steep cliffs or other hazards.
  • The child who is not blindfolded can guide the other child by saying “warmer” or “colder,” depending on which direction the child is moving relative to the object to be found.
