Fish in the Red Sea

Objective

In the Fish in the Red Sea activity, the children are physically active whilst searching for colours on their own clothes.

Instructions

  1. Create a play area, which is the Red Sea. All the children line up at one end of the sea.
  2. One child is the fish and stands in the middle of the sea.
  3. The children shout the following to the fish: “Fish in the Red Sea, what colour do we need to get across?”
  4. The fish in the Red Sea answers by saying one colour: e.g. blue.
  5. The children who are wearing something blue that can be seen, are allowed to cross safely to the other side. The children who are not wearing anything blue must try to cross the sea without the fish catching them.
  6. The children that are caught by the fish become fish, and can help decide colours and catch the other children in the next round.
