Family Game

In this activity, the children play with numbers, quantities and counting by forming different sized families. This is also a moderate to vigorous intensity activity in that the children run or dance when the music plays.

  1. The children run/dance freely whilst the music is playing.
  2. When the music stops (or upon a signal if there is no music), the children form families (groups) corresponding to the number that is held up or shouted out.

  • As a variation, the children can be given the task of collecting a certain number of bean bags, cones and so forth (preferably in pairs).
  • For progression, the children can be given other tasks, e.g. ‘two cats and a dog, when the children shall portray what is shouted out.

Preferably music, but this is not essential
